Indian markets ended higher on Friday. Both Sensex and Nifty traded at a new life time high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 251.29 or 0.71% at 35,511.58 with 21 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 77.70 or 0.72% at 10,894.70 with 34 components posting rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (4.68%), ICICI Bank (2.15%), State Bank Of India (2.08%), Tata Consultancy Services (2.02%), Tata Power Company (1.82%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.39%).
On the other hand, Infosys (0.82%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.74%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.61%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.40%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.23%), and Cipla (0.19%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,265 advances against 1,346 declines.
I C I C I Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 6,154.08 million. It was followed by Maruti Suzuki India (Rs. 985.91 million), Larsen & Toubro (Rs. 915.32 million) and State
The volume chart was led by I C I C I Bank with trades of over 17.41 million shares. It was followed by Uttam Value Steels (10.25 million), Reliance Communications (9.75 million) and Suzlon Energy (4.74 million).
