Sensex rises above 350 points; Nifty surges over 110 points

Indian equities continued to rise for the second day on Friday. At 9.32 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 353.68 points or 1.07% at 33,460.50 with 27 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 111.70 points or 1.09% at 10,326.45 with 46 components gaining.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (2.92%), ICICI Bank (2.76%), State Bank Of India (2.67%), Cipla (2.06%) and HDFC (2.04%).

On the other hand, Infosys (1.17%), TCS (0.66%) and Wipro (0.45%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 1,256 advances against 268 declines.

State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 126.05 million. It was followed by Rain Industries (Rs. 117.05 million), Grasim Industries (Rs. 103.47 million) and Reliance Capital (Rs. 57.14 million).

The volume chart was led by Sanwaria Consumer with trades of over 1.97 million shares. It was followed by Texmaco Infrastructure and Holdings (0.60 million), Hindustan Copper (0.48 million) and State Bank Of India (0.37 million).
