Indian equities bounced back on Thursday snapping earlier losses. At 11.42 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 233.66 points or 0.71% at 32,994.10 with 22 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 52.35 points or 0.52% at 10,170.40 with 40 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (1.99%), Tata Motors (1.59%), Infosys (1.54%), Larsen & Toubro (1.18%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.03%).
On the other hand, Coal India (1.62%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.34%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.05%), State Bank Of India (0.23%), Bharti Airtel (0.22%), and Cipla (0.11%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,357 advances against 810 declines.
Grasim Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 725.08 million. It was followed by Reliance Capital (Rs. 610.50 million), Dixon Technologies (India) (Rs. 504.95 million) and C E S C (Rs. 424.10 million).
The volume chart was led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over 7.37 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Communications (6.22 million), Jaiprakash Associates (3.84 million) and Vipul (3.14 million).
