Sensex ends 64 points higher; Nifty settles at 10,322

Indian markets ended higher on Friday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 63.63 or 0.19% at 33,314.56 with 15 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 12.80 or 0.12% at 10,321.75 with 24 components posting rise.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were State Bank Of India (6.20%), Larsen & Toubro (3.90%), Hindustan Unilever (2.99%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.34%), ICICI Bank (2.25%), and Bajaj Auto (2.03%).

On the other hand, Tata Motors (4.01%), Reliance Industries (2.00%), Asian Paints (1.57%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.42%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.27%), and Tata Consultancy Services (1.12%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 1,121 advances against 1,382 declines.

Tata Motors topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,020.25 million. It was followed by Canara Bank (Rs. 383.13 million), Lupin (Rs. 293.51 million) and Reliance Industries (Rs. 267.03 million).

The volume chart was led by Birla Power Solutions with trades of over 12.09 million shares. It was followed by Suzlon Energy (7.33 million), Reliance Communications (6.02 million) and Sam Leaseco (4.22 million).
