Indian equities ended lower on Wednesday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex lost 151.95 or 0.46% at 33,218.81 with 22 components posting drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty fell by 47.00 or 0.45% at 10,303.15 with 41 components posting drop.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (3.73%), Tata Motors (2.92%), State Bank Of India (2.35%), Lupin (2.09%), ICICI Bank (2.05%) and Reliance Industries (2.03%).
On the other hand, Axis Bank (3.41%), Asian Paint (2.51%), Cipla (2.07%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.89%), Bajaj Auto (0.97%) and Coal India (0.97%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 878 advances against 1,678 declines.
Bharti Airtel topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 138,401.73 million. It was followed by Lupin (Rs. 1,625.01 million), Yes Bank (Rs. 540.14 million) and Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers and Chemicals (Rs. 438.66 million).
The volume chart was led by Bharti Airtel with trades of over 279.51 million shares. It was followed by Sanwaria Consumer (8.26 million), Jaiprakash Associates (5.11 million) and Manappuram Finance (3.65 million).
