Indian markets ended lower on Tuesday erasing earlier gains. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex declined 360.43 or 1.07% at 33,370.76 with 20 components registering drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty fell by 101.65 or 0.97% at 10,350.15 with 40 components posting drop.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Lupin (16.84%), Cipla (7.18%), State Bank Of India (3.57%), Bharti Airtel (3.45%) and Reliance Industries (2.98%).
On the other hand, Infosys (2.92%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.55%) and Wipro (0.87%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 967 advances against 1,584 declines.
Lupin topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,488.29 million. It was followed by Aditya Birla Capital (Rs. 718.49 million), Yes Bank (Rs. 686.57 million) and Punjab National Bank (Rs. 600.92 million).
The volume chart was led by Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) with trades of over 11.11 million shares. It was followed by Suzlon Energy (6.86 million), Steel Authority Of India (6.28 million) and Himachal Futuristic Communications (6.00 million).
