Indian markets continued to gain for the second day on Monday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 45.63 or 0.14% at 33,731.19 with 16 components registering rise. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a decline of 0.70 points or 0.01%, at 10,451.80.30 components posting drop.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (3.81%), Tata Motors (3.28%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.49%), Cipla (2.47%), Tata Consultancy Services (2.08%), and Wipro (1.94%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.96%), NTPC (1.81%), Bharti Airtel (1.59%), Axis Bank (1.19%), Reliance Industries (1.18%), and Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.01%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,335 advances against 1,291 declines.
Titan Company topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,205.61 million. It was followed by Hindustan Copper (Rs. 963.54 million), Aditya Birla Capital (Rs. 834.34 million) and Punjab National Bank (Rs. 613.76 million).
The volume chart was led by Hindustan Copper with trades of over 9.28 million shares. It was followed by Suzlon Energy (7.58 million), M M T C (5.33 million) and Jaiprakash Associates (4.08 million).
