Indian markets continued to gain for the sixth day on Monday. At 9.39 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 192.09 points or 0.60% at 32,464.70 with 24 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 71.65 points or 0.71% at 10,157.05 with 42 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Larsen & Toubro (2.37%), Bajaj Auto (2.25%), Tata Motors (2.07%), Hero Motocorp (1.25%), GAIL (India) (1.16%), and NTPC (1.11%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.01%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.89%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.56%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.54%), Tata Steel (0.28%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.02%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,267 advances against 362 declines.
Graphite India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 321.49 million. It was followed by Himachal Futuristic Communications (Rs. 263.95 million), UPL (Rs. 191.21 million) and Bombay Burmah Trdg Corporation (Rs. 114.18 million).
The volume chart was led by Himachal Futuristic Communications with trades of over 7.44 million shares. It was followed by SBI SDFS - 90 Days - 60 - Dividend (3.79 million), Graphite India (0.90 million) and Ferro Alloys Corporation (0.77 million).
