Indian markets ended higher on Thursday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 55.52 or 0.17% at 32,241.93 with 12 components posting rise. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a gain of 7.30 points or 0.07%, at 10,086.60.23 components posting rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (4.24%), Axis Bank (4.20%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (3.66%), Tata Motors (3.62%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (3.44%), and Cipla (1.89%).
On the other hand, Wipro (4.10%), GAIL (India) (1.83%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.12%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.06%), Bharti Airtel (0.70%), and Larsen & Toubro (0.66%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,226 advances against 1,233 declines.
Welspun Enterprises topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 648.00 million. It was followed by Bharat Heavy Electricals (Rs. 644.33 million), Divis Laboratories (Rs. 637.54 million) and R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 569.25 million).
The volume chart was led by IDFC with trades of over 5.92 million shares. It was followed by Bharat Heavy Electricals (4.69 million), Welspun Enterprises (4.57 million) and Hindustan Construction Company (3.90 million).
