Bharat Petroleum Corp gets 'Maharatna' status

Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) has been conferred with Maharatna Status by Government of India. Accordingly, the company is empowered to exercise the powers of a Maharatna Company as governed by relevant guidelines issued by Department of Public Enterprises.

BPCL is into exploration, production and retailing of petroleum and petrol related products. The retail business unit of BPCL is into marketing of petrol, diesel and kerosene.

Total volume of shares traded on the bourses today was lower by 75.13% to 1,016,960 compared with 22-day average volume of 4,089,909.

Shares of the company gained Rs 10.4, or 2.03%, to trade at Rs 522.90. The total volume of shares traded was 79,201 at the BSE (10.16 a.m., Tuesday).
