Indian markets continued to gain for the second day on Wednesday. At 9.36 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 109.67 points or 0.35% at 31,401.52 with 25 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 31.10 points or 0.32% at 9,796.65 with 38 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.78%), Bharti Airtel (1.23%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.21%), State Bank Of India (0.99%), GAIL (India) (0.92%), and Cipla (0.81%).
On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever (1.12%), Asian Paints (1.05%), Tata Power Company (0.31%), and Tata Steel (0.31%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 959 advances against 400 declines.
Infosys topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 165.48 million. It was followed by Reliance Capital (Rs. 46.15 million), Spicejet (Rs. 32.74 million) and BEML (Rs. 32.49 million).
The volume chart was led by Assam Company India with trades of over 0.56 million shares. It was followed by Spicejet (0.26 million), Infosys (0.19 million) and H C L Infosystems (0.11 million).
