Sensex flat with negative bias; Nifty below 9,500

Indian markets continued to decline for the third day on Wednesday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading below 1-month low. At 9.33 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 24.16 points or 0.08% at 30,934.09 with 16 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 19.95 points or 0.21% at 9,491.45 with 28 components falling.

Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Asian Paints (2.52%), ITC (1.04%), State Bank Of India (0.86%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.73%), Reliance Industries (0.66%), and Larsen & Toubro (0.52%).

On the other hand, GAIL (India) (1.97%), Axis Bank (1.28%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.27%), ICICI Bank (1.23%), Hero Motocorp (0.75%), and Tata Power Company (0.56%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 738 advances against 645 declines.

Jaiprakash Associates topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 94.75 million. It was followed by Spicejet (Rs. 88.46 million), Pidilite Industries (Rs. 87.54 million) and Indiabulls Real Estate (Rs. 73.84 million).

The volume chart was led by Lanco Infratech with trades of over 27.76 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (4.45 million), Unitech (4.03 million) and Jaypee Infratech (2.47 million).
