Indian equities continued to rise for the fourth day on Tuesday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading at a new life time high. At 11.31 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 62.85 points or 0.20% at 31,172.13 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 4.65 points or 0.05% at 9,609.55 with 29 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were NTPC (4.35%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (2.62%), ICICI Bank (2.18%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.98%), Cipla (1.85%), and GAIL (India) (1.82%).
On the other hand, Coal India (1.76%), Hindustan Unilever (1.00%), ITC (0.89%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.81%), and Larsen & Toubro (0.70%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 839 advances against 1,299 declines.
Larsen & Toubro topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 849.94 million. It was followed by Aurobindo Pharma (Rs. 667.18 million), Reliance Capital (Rs. 324.94 million) and Siti Networks (Rs. 320.81 million).
The volume chart was led by Siti Networks with trades of over 10.17 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Communications (7.05 million), Jaiprakash Associates (6.44 million) and Suzlon Energy (3.87 million).
