Indian rupee has appreciated against US dollar on Friday. Local currency went up 4 paise or 0.06 percent against dollar to trade at 64.58.

Rupee has witnessed a high of 64.55 and a low of 64.58. Its 52-week range was 63.93-68.86.

The Dollar index, a measure of the value of the US dollar relative to a basket of foreign currencies, rose 0.02 percent to trade at 97.27.

On Thursday, rupee has gained 11 paise or 0.17 percent against dollar to settle at 64.62.

Local stock markets continued to gain for the second day on Friday. At 9.19 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 33.64 points or 0.11% at 30,783.67 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 2.00 points or 0.02% at 9,507.75 with 26 components falling.
