Indian equities traded flat on Thursday ahead of the F&O expiry. At 12.21 p.m, the Sensex was trading up 59.25 points or 0.20% at 29,590.68 with 15 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 10.90 points or 0.12% at 9,154.70 with 30 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (4.39%), State Bank Of India (1.27%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.81%), Hero Motocorp (0.72%), Reliance Industries (0.72%), and Larsen & Toubro (0.64%).
On the other hand, Axis Bank (1.03%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.78%), Coal India (0.63%), I T C (0.46%), Tata Motors (0.45%), and Infosys (0.37%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,563 advances against 724 declines.
Bharti Airtel topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,060.00 million. It was followed by Housing Development Finance Corporation (Rs. 931.22 million), Tata Communications (Rs. 746.96 million) and Deep Industries (Rs. 738.40 million).
The volume chart was led by Future Consumer with trades of over 23.97 million shares. It was followed by Suzlon Energy (7.22 million), Manaksia Steels (6.51 million) and Bharti Airtel (5.99 million).
