Indian markets continued to rise for the second day on Wednesday. At 11.27 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 109.01 points or 0.37% at 29,518.53 with 19 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 25.95 points or 0.29% at 9,126.75 with 36 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were State Bank Of India (2.06%), Tata Power Company (2.03%), Asian Paints (1.52%), ICIC I Bank (1.32%), Larsen & Toubro (1.26%), and Axis Bank (1.10%).
On the other hand, GAIL (India) (0.53%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.50%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.44%), Wipro (0.29%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.26%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.13%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,251 advances against 974 declines.
Bharti Infratel topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 69,347.18 million. It was followed by Astral Poly Technik (Rs. 8,255.48 million), Indusind Bank (Rs. 5,190.19 million) and Axis Bank (Rs. 4,059.33 million).
The volume chart was led by Bharti Infratel with trades of over 210.05 million shares. It was followed by Hathway Cable and Datacom (25.72 million), Astral Poly Technik (14.43 million) and Manaksia Steels (12.62 million).
