Indian rupee has strengthened against US dollar on Friday. Local currency gained 12 paise or 0.18 percent against dollar to settle at 65.42.

Rupee has witnessed a high of 65.38 and a low of 65.53. Its 52-week range was 65.21-68.86.

The Dollar index, a measure of the value of the US dollar relative to a basket of foreign currencies, fell 0.27 percent to settle at 22.00.

Local stock markets ended higher on Friday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 89.24 or 0.30% at 29,421.40 with 13 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 21.70 or 0.24% at 9,108.00 with 24 components registering rise.
