Indian equities ended higher for the fifth day on Tuesday.Both Sensex and Nifty traded above 1-month high.
At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 147.33 points or 0.21% at 26,841.60 with 20 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 33.60 points or 0.41% at 8,152.90 with 29 components registering rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Motors (3.25%), Coal India (2.58%), Cipla (2.38%), G A I L (India) (2.38%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (2.08%), and Hero Motocorp (1.85%).
On the other hand, Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.13%), Infosys (1.69%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.93%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.89%), Bajaj Auto (0.82%), and H D F C Bank (0.80%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,325 advances against 773 declines.
