Indian equities pared most of its losses and turned positive towards closing on Friday. At 2.05 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 41.34 points or 0.15% at 27,498.92 with 14 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 21.75 points or 0.26% at 8,320.40 with 32 components falling.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Infosys (2.89%), State Bank Of India (2.34%), I C I C I Bank (2.19%), Larsen & Toubro (1.77%), Hindalco Industries (1.70%), and NTPC (1.36%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (5.61%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.71%), Wipro (2.51%), Dr Reddy's Laboratories (1.92%), Tata Power Company (1.77%), and Sesa Sterlite (1.70%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger counterparts declining -0.47% and -0.64% respectively.
The HC index was at 16,860.89, down by 222.76 points or by 1.3%. The Realty index was at 1,622.27, down by 19.76 points or by 1.2%. On the other hand, the IT index was at 11,355.84, up by 100.53 points or by 0.89%.
