Indian rupee has strengthened on Friday against US dollar. Indian currency went up 9 paise or 0.15 percent against dollar to trade at 61.37. Rupee has witnessed a high of 61.34 and a low of 61.45. Its 52-week range was 58.34-63.91.
The Dollar index, a measure of the value of the US dollar relative to a basket of foreign currencies, gained 0.42 percent to trade at 86.50.
Stock markets settled at record high on Friday led by recent reform measures announced by the government and strong global markets. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 519.50 points or 1.90% at 27,865.83 with 28 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 153 points or 1.87% at 8,322.20 with 49 components posting rise.
