US stock markets settled sharply higher on Tuesday with gains in technology stocks propelling the Nasdaq Composite to its biggest one-day percentage jump since January 2013. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 215.14 points or 1.31 percent to settle at 16,614.81. The 30-share index has recorded a high of 16,620.78 and a low of 16,405.77 after opening at 16,406.03.
While NASDAQ 100 index jumped 101.31 points or 2.62 percent to close at 3,971.39. The index has recorded a high of 3,971.40 and a low of 3,908.83 after opening at 3,916.65.
The broader S&P 500 index went up 37.27 points or 1.96 percent to end at 1,941.28. The index has seen a high of 1,942.45 and a low of 1,909.38 after opening at 1,909.38.
