Hero MotoCorp (HMCL), the leading two-wheeler manufacturer in India, at Neemrana in the Northern Indian state of Rajasthan has gone on stream, in keeping with the company's vision to surpass 100 million units in cumulative production by year 2020. The plant will be officially inaugurated by the chief minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje Scindia.
HMCL has injected a sum of Rs 10.50 billion (USD 175 million) as initial investment to build this sustainable manufacturing unit balancing nature, business and mankind. This investment is the first in a series of investments totally worth Rs 50 billion that the company has outlined to boost production capacity around the world.
Aiming to double its annual turnover to over Rs 30 billion in the next two to three years, the GPC is designed to have minimal manual intervention while significantly enhancing productivity.
Shares of the company gained Rs 26.9, or 0.92%, to trade at Rs 2,963.80. The total volume of shares traded was 19,745 at the BSE (11.33 a.m., Tuesday).
