India stock index futures signal positive open

Indian equities are likely to open on positive note tracking global markets on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014. SGX Nifty trading at 7,939 (08.25 am), 120 points higher than Friday's close of 7,819.

Asian stocks are trading on positive note in early trade on Monday. Japanese benchmark index Nikkei 225 up 2% to open at 14,822.84. China's Shanghai Composite opened up by 0.21% at 2,346.05.

US stock markets closed sharply higher on Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 263.17 points or 1.63 percent to settle at 16,380.41. The 30-share index has recorded a high of 16,427.38 and a low of 16,118.39 after opening at 16,118.39. While NASDAQ 100 index went up 50.19 points or 1.33 percent to close at 3,815.47. The index has seen a high of 3,848.98 and a low of 3,791.16 after opening at 3,815.72. The broader S&P 500 index rose 24.00 points or 1.29 percent to end at 1,886.76. The index has registered a high of 1,898.16 and a low of 1,864.91 after opening at 1,864.91.

European stock markets closed sharply higher on Friday. Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 jumped 87.59 points or 2.96 percent to settle at 2,962.24. While UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 gained 114.38 points or 1.81 percent to close at 6,310.29. Germany's benchmark index DAX jumped 267.37 points or 3.12 percent to end at 8,850.27. French benchmark index CAC 40 jumped 114.56 points or 2.92 percent to end at 4,033.18.

Crude oil prices settled higher in futures market on Friday. Light sweet crude oil (WTI) futures rose 0.05 dollar or 0.06 percent to close at USD 82.75 a barrel at the New York-based commodity exchange NYMEX. Brent crude oil futures rose 0.34 dollar or 0.4 percent to close at USD 86.16 a barrel at NYMEX. WTI-Brent spread was stable on Oct-2014. Natural gas futures remained flat at 3.766 a gallon at the NYMEX. RBOB gasoline futures remained flat at 2.233 a gallon at the NYMEX. In refined products, RBOB heating oil futures remained flat at 2.498 a gallon at the NYMEX.
