The Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) has paid the government the final dividend of Rs 2.71 billion on its share capital held by the president of India. A cheque to this amount was today handed over to Piyush Goyal, minister of dtate (I/C) for power, coal & new and renewable energy by the chairman-cum-managing director of NLC B. Sunder Mohan. Secretary Coal, S.K.Srivastava and Joint Secretary Coal, A.K.Bhalla were present on the occasion.
The shareholders of NLC at the 58th Annual General Meeting held on Sept.24, 2014 have declared a final dividend at the rate of 18% for the financial year 2013-14 in addition to 10% of Interim Dividend paid during March 2014, aggregating to a total dividend of 28% (including distribution tax) for the year 2013-14 amounts to Rs 5.49 billion.
Taking into account the interim dividend of Rs 1.50 billion paid during March 2014, the total dividend paid to government of India for the year 2013-14 was Rs 4.22 billion.
Shares of the company declined Rs 0.2, or 0.24%, to trade at Rs 82.75. The total volume of shares traded was 9,889 at the BSE (3.19 p.m., Thursday).
