Tata Communications had undertaken an exclusive survey in six countries and with over 9, 000 respondents, to understand the behavioural, technological and philosophical patterns of the Internet users, globally.
The connected world II report by Tata Communications, which details the survey findings, indicates a growing internet dependent India with 82% Indians exhibiting Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) when not connected to the Internet, in comparison to 29% globally. It also points towards a new form of entertainment for Indians - the Internet; with 43% Indians willing to give up watching television for the Internet, as compared to 17% American and 22% European respondents willing to do the same.
With the evolution of technology, Asians expect huge potential for the Internet that will affect different aspects of life, economy and society. This is also indicated in the survey results with 27% of surveyed Indians and 32% of surveyed Singaporeans pick smart cities as their preferred choice for what the Internet will enable in the future, as compared to 19% globally.
Shares of the company declined Rs 3.25, or 0.9%, to trade at Rs 359. The total volume of shares traded was 5,487 at the BSE (10.57 a.m., Tuesday).
