Asian stock markets settled lower on Tuesday after Chinese manufacturing beat expectations to show a pick-up in September. Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 lost 115.27 points or 0.71 percent to settle at 16,205.90.
China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite went up 19.85 points or 0.87 percent to close at 2,309.72. Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 118.42 points or 0.49 percent to end at 23,837.07.
Singapore's Straits Times gained 1.52 points or 0.05 percent to end at 3,298.09. South Korea's KOSPI fell 10.36 points or 0.51 percent to end at 2,028.91. Taiwan's TAIEX declined 49.75 points or 0.54 percent to end at 9,084.90.
