Indian equities turned on positive note on Monday. At 2.27 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 106.55 points or 0.39% at 27,196.97 with 12 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 28.50 points or 0.35% at 8,149.95 with 21 components gaining.
Consumer Durable stocks climbed the most with a gain of 3.67%. On the other hand, Metal stocks fell by 1.24% followed by Healthcare stocks (0.8%). Tata Motors, ONGC, ITC and Hero Motocorp were major gainers in the Sensex pack. On the other hand, Cipla, Tata Steel, BHEL and Infosys were top losers in the benchmark index.
Overall Market breadth was positive with 1,697 advances against 1,306 declines.
Shares of Punjab National Bank (PNB), Sanghvi Forging & Engineering and Cromton Greaves are active in the day's trade. PNB registered a sharp rise in share prices of 1.70% today after the board of the bank considered and granted in-principle approval for spilt of existing equity shares of face value of Rs 10 each into 5 equity shares of value of Rs 2 each.
Sanghvi Forging & Engineering witnessed a sharp rise in share prices of 9.89% after it has received an order worth Rs 100 million from oil & gas, power and shipbuilding sectors.
Crompton Greaves registered a rise in share prices of 1.82% after the company was selected by eRDF - electricite reseau distribution France.
