Dollar-rupee futures strengthened on Thursday against US dollar. USDINR September contract moved up 2 paise or 0.03 percent at 61.08 as against previous close of 61.06. The most active September contract touched a high of 61.315 and a low of 61.07 after opening at 61.31.
A total of 0.7 million contracts were traded till 13:15 pm. Turnover for September contract was at Rs 42.60 billion. Meanwhile, open interest was at 0.94 million.
Indian rupee has weakened on Thursday as US dollar strengthened against major currencies globally after the US Federal Reserve policy announcement. The Federal Reserve on Wednesday said it will maintain interest rates at near zero level for a considerable time after the asset purchase program ends.
Indian currency declined 10 paise or 0.16 percent against dollar to trade at 61.01. Rupee has witnessed a high of 61.01 and a low of 61.20. Its 52-week range was 58.34-63.91.
