Indian rupee has appreciated on Tuesday against US dollar ahead of the US Federal Reserve meeting. Indian currency gained 9 paise or 0.15% against dollar to settle at 61.06.
Rupee has witnessed a high of 61.01 and a low of 61.14. Its 52-week range was 58.34-63.91. The Dollar index, a measure of the value of the US dollar relative to a basket of foreign currencies, declined 0.05% to settle at 84.22.
Today, Indian markets settled sharply lower ahead of the US Federal Reserve meeting. Realty, power and capital goods stocks were under pressure. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex lost 324.05 points or 1.21% at 26,492.51. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty fell by 109.10 points or 1.36% at 7,932.90.
