Sasken Communication Technologies, an embedded communications solutions company, has received USD 21.49 million from Spreadtrum Communications Inc. in relation to arbitration award in the company's favour. Earlier in August, the company had received USD 7 million from Spreadtrum.

On July 1, the company said it has received arbitration award in its favor in the matter of Spreadtrum. The award recognizes that the agreement between the parties is in full force and as a result, Spreadtrum has been directed to pay USD 31.7 million within 30 days, towards royalties and interest on unpaid royalties.

Furtherthe Arbitrator had directed Spreadtrum to continue to provide royalty reports and pay the contracted royalties on an ongoing basis.

Shares of the company gained Rs 8.55, or 2.6%, to trade at Rs 337.30. The total volume of shares traded was 107,055 at the BSE (11.17 a.m., Wednesday).
