Indian equities are trading lower in early trade on Wednesday due to weak global cues. At 9.18 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 94.21 points or 0.35 percent at 27,171.11. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 31 points or 0.38 percent at 8,121.95.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a decline of 34.38 points or 0.13% at 27,230.94. Major losers were Indusind Bank, Hero Motocorp, Ambuja Cement and Infosys. Top gainers were Bharti Airtel, Cipla, ICICI Bank and Coal India. The BSE Midcap index was at 9839.7 down by 3.67 points or by 0.04%.
The Capital Goods index was at 15,475.59, down by 77.67 points or by 0.5%. The Realty index was at 1,751.64, down by 7.64 points or by 0.43%. The Metal index was at 12,653.29, down by 50.32 points or by 0.4%.
