Indian equities opened with a bang with Sensex hitting yet another record high of 21,100 in early trade on Wednesday on the back of Modi speech and encouraging GDP data. At 9.18 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 114.29 points or 0.42% at 27,133.68. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 33.55 points or 0.42% at 8,116.60.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 108.67 points or 0.40% at 27,128.06.
Top gainers were Bharti Airtel (2.45%), Tata Motors (1.46%), Infosys (0.98%) and TCS (0.95%)
Major losers were Hero Motocorp (0.95%), HUL (0.37%), ITC (0.37%) and HDFC (0.31%)
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.37% and 0.29% respectively.
The Consumer Durables index was at 9,774.62, up by 185.93 points or by 1.94%. The Realty index was at 1,802.78, up by 15.14 points or by 0.85%. The Oil & Gas index was at 11,570.34, up by 87.65 points or by 0.76%. The Auto index was at 17,671.48, up by 119.80 points or by 0.68%.
