Indian equities gained momentum in the late morning trade with Sensex and Nifty at their new highs on Tuesday. Healthcare and realty stocks witnessed a gain whereas metal stocks registered a fall.
At 11 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 112.76 points or 0.42% at 26,980.31. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 34.95 points or 0.44% at 8,062.65.
Top gainers were Cipla (6.57%), Bharti Airtel (3.39%), Sun Pharma (2.58%) and Hero Motocorp (1.30%)
Major losers were SSTL (1.29%), HUL (1.09%), Tata Motors (1.08%) and Infosys (0.83%)
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.86% and 1.06% respectively.
The HC index was at 13,627.94, up by 247.68 points or by 1.85%. The Realty index was at 1,793.08, up by 18.69 points or by 1.05%.
On the other hand, the Metal index was at 12,527.41, down by 67.24 points or by 0.53%.
