Asian stock markets closed higher on Monday. Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 gained 52.01 points or 0.34 percent to settle at 15,476.60.

China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite gained 18.31 points or 0.83 percent to close at 2,235.51. Hong Kong's Hang Seng went up 10.03 points or 0.04 percent to end at 24,752.09. Singapore's Straits Times declined 12.96 points or 0.39 percent to end at 3,314.13.

South Korea's KOSPI fell 0.68 points or 0.03 percent to end at 2,067.86. Taiwan's TAIEX rose 76.79 points or 0.81 percent to end at 9,513.06.
