The Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'Jan Dhan Yojana' on Thursday that entails providing a bank account to every Indian family. "It is our commitment to provide each and every citizen of India with access to banking facilities," the Prime Minister said.
The landmark Jan Dhan Yojna aimed at providing bank accounts to every Indian household will be a game-changer in fighting corruption at the grassroots and delivery level, Assocham secretary general DS Rawat said.
The benefits under government's welfare schemes running into thousands of crores of rupees can be directly transferred to the beneficiaries' accounts. Huge pilferage in the middle will be eliminated, Rawat said while congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It would also give a sense of belonging to the poor people and empower them in terms of asserting their rights, Rawat said.
