Indian markets settled on positive note on Thursday. Capital goods and oil & gas stocks witnessed a gain whereas realty stocks registered a fall.
At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 77.96 points or 0.29% at 26,638.11 with 17 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 18.30 points or 0.23% at 7,954.35 with 25 components posting rise.
Top gainers were BHEL (5.04%), GAIL (1.96%), ONGC (1.73%) and L&T (1.62%)
Major losers were Tata Power (1.97%), Tata Steel (1.78%), SBI (1.70%) and NTPC (1.18%)
The BSE Midcap settled lower -27.69 points or 0.10% at 9,298.90 however the Bse Smallcap gained 0.00 points or 0.00% at 10,264.45 at the closing.
The Capital Goods index was at 14,913.18, up by 210.59 points or by 1.43%. The Oil & Gas index was at 11,184.90, up by 117.02 points or by 1.06%.
On the other hand, the Realty index was at 1,727.44, down by 33.55 points or by 1.91%.
