India stock index futures signal positive open

Indian equities are likely to open on positive note tracking global markets on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014. SGX Nifty trading at 7,954.50 (08.20 am), 17.50 points higher than Wednesday's close of 7,937.

Asian stocks are trading on mixed note in early trade on Thursday. Japanese benchmark index Nikkei 225 down 0.34% to open at 15,482.27. China's Shanghai Composite opened up by 0.05% at 2,210.48.

US stock markets closed higher on Wednesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average went up 15.31 points or 0.09 percent to settle at 17,122.01. The 30-share index has seen a high of 17,134.60 and a low of 17,090.61 after opening at 17,111.03. While NASDAQ 100 index went up 1.51 points or 0.04 percent to close at 4,073.18. The index has recorded a high of 4,078.19 and a low of 4,064.06 after opening at 4,073.40. The broader S&P 500 index 0.10 points or 0 percent to end at 2,000.12. The index has registered a high of 2,002.14 and a low of 1,996.20 after opening at 2,000.54.

European stock markets settled marginally mixed on Wednesday. Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 fell 3.09 points or 0.1 percent to settle at 3,194.45. While UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 gained 7.90 points or 0.12 percent to close at 6,830.66. Germany's benchmark index DAX lost 18.44 points or 0.19 percent to end at 9,569.71. French benchmark index CAC 40 rose 1.85 points or 0.04 percent to end at 4,395.26.

Crude oil prices closed higher in futures market on Wednesday. Light sweet crude oil (WTI) futures gained 0.02 dollar or 0.02 percent to close at USD 93.88 a barrel at the New York-based commodity exchange NYMEX. Brent crude oil futures gained 0.22 dollar or 0.21 percent to close at USD 102.72 a barrel at NYMEX. Natural gas futures remained flat at 3.957 a gallon at the NYMEX.
