Most Asian stock markets settled higher on Wednesday. Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 lost 1.40 points or 0.03 percent to settle at 4,392.01.

China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite rose 13.60 points or 0.09 percent to close at 15,534.82. Hong Kong's Hang Seng went up 2.36 points or 0.11 percent to end at 2,209.47. Singapore's Straits Times declined 155.75 points or 0.62 percent to end at 24,918.75.

South Korea's KOSPI gained 18.44 points or 0.55 percent to end at 3,341.46. Taiwan's TAIEX gained 6.88 points or 0.33 percent to end at 2,074.93.
