Indian equities witnessed a new high in today's trade. IT, banking and technology stocks witnessed a gain whereas realty stocks registered a fall.
At 2.38 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 90.95 points or 0.35% at 26,451.06 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 28.75 points or 0.36% at 7,919.85 with 29 components gaining.
Top gainers were Hindalco (2.28%), SBI (2.26%), HDFC Bank (1.66%) and Infosys (1.61%).
Major losers were Coal India (2.02%), HDFC (1.87%), Bharti Airtel (1.35%) and BHEL (1.00%).
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.27% and 0.14% respectively.
The IT index was at 9,957.00, up by 168.51 points or by 1.72%. The Bankex index was at 18,138.67, up by 223.17 points or by 1.25%. The TECk index was at 5,544.66, up by 59.50 points or by 1.08%.
On the other hand, the Realty index was at 1,828.16, down by 9.36 points or by 0.51%.
