Larsen & Toubro (L&T), an engineering and construction conglomerate, announced that the water & renewable energy business of L&T construction has secured new orders worth Rs 12.83 billion in July and August 2014.
The water supply & distribution business along with its joint venture partner NCC, has secured a major order from Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam for the Japan International Cooperation Agency-assisted Agra Water supply project. The scope involves construction of two parallel 2100 mm diameter steel gravity mains in the city. The total value of the order for the joint venture id Rs 7.45 billion, out of which L&T's share id Rs 4.1 billion.
In the waste water business repeat orders have been received from Greater Mohali Area Development Authority and Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation.
The Industrial water systems business has received a turnkey order from a private player for the construction of a 40 MLD common effluent treatment plant based on sequential batch reactor technology in Punjab.
The water & renewable energy business caters to turnkey infrastructure projects including water supply and distribution, desalination plants, water management system, waste water networks, water and waste water treatment plants, industrial water systems, lift irrigation systems and canal rehabilitation.
Shares of the company gained Rs 6.5, or 0.42%, to trade at Rs 1,538.45. The total volume of shares traded was 13,690 at the BSE (9.38 a.m., Friday).
