Indian equities after trading flat gained momentum and is trading higher in late tarde on Thursday. Consumer durables, banking and capital goods stocks witnessed a gain whereas metal stocks registered a fall.
At 11.25 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 118.50 points or 0.45% at 26,432.79 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 34 points or 0.43% at 7,909.30 with 33 components gaining.
Top gainers were Bajaj Auto (2.32%), SBI (2.03%), Axis Bank (1.89%) and ICICI Bank (1.22%).
Major losers were SSTL (1.09%), Dr Reddy's Laboratories (1.07%), Hero Motocorp (1.02%) and HDFC (0.61%).
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 1.01% and 1.07% respectively.
The Consumer Durables index was at 9,128.36, up by 314.24 points or by 3.57%. The Bankex index was at 17,972.14, up by 264.72 points or by 1.49%. The Capital Goods index was at 14,923.00, up by 168.85 points or by 1.14%.
On the other hand, the Metal index was at 12,945.85, down by 61.44 points or by 0.47%.
