Indian equities are slightly higher in early trade on Wednesday. At 9.16 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 47.83 points or 0.18% at 26,468.50 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 156.90 points or 1.99% at 8,054.40 with 28 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 75.62 points or 0.29% at 26,496.29.
Top gainers were Bharti Airtel (1.82%), Dr Reddy's Laboratories (1.08%), HDFC Bank (0.84%) and Bajaj Auto (0.72%).
Major losers were L&T (1.13%), ONGC (1.11%), Axis Bank (1.09%) and HDFC (1.01%).
The Bankex index was at 17,843.42, up by 84.06 points or by 0.47%. The IT index was at 9,824.66, up by 45.93 points or by 0.47%. The TECk index was at 5,515, up by 25.07 points or by 0.46%.
On the other hand, the Consumer Durables index was at 8,821.49, down by 21.54 points or by 0.24%.
