OMCs loss on diesel sales up 33.8% to Rs 1.78 a litre

Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) under-recovery on high speed diesel (HSD) increased 33.83% to Rs 1.78 a litre applicable for second fortnight of August effective Aug. 16, 2014. This was Rs 1.33 a litre during first fortnight of Aug 2014.

In the case of PDS kerosene and domestic LPG, the under-recoveries for the second fortnight of August 2014 continue to be Rs 32.98 a litre and Rs 447.87 per cylinder respectively, as in the last fortnight.

OMCs, effective Aug. 16, 2014, are now incurring combined daily under-recovery of about Rs 2.30 billion on the sale of diesel, PDS kerosene and domestic LPG. This is higher than Rs 2.26 billion daily under-recoveries during previous fortnight.

The under-recoveries for the financial year 2014-15 are projected to be Rs 916.65 billion while the figure was Rs 1,398.69 billion in the 2013-14.
