Oriental Bank of Commerce Q1 profit up 3.2%

Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) on Monday reported a rise of 3.16% in its net profit for the quarter ended Jun. 30, 2014. The bank earned a profit of Rs 3.65 billion for the quarter ended Jun. 30, 2014.

The bank's quarterly income totaled at Rs 55.76 billion, an increase of 6.09% over Rs 52.56 billion in the same period a year ago.

The bank has made provision of Rs 5.42 billion, which was lower by 1.66% from prior year period.

Net NPA was at Rs 42.29 billion for the quarter ended Jun. 30, 2014, as compared to Rs 29.36 billion in the same period last year, representing an increase of 44.01%.

In percentage term, net NPAs were at 3.11% at the end of the quarter, Jun. 30, 2014, higher by 2.34% from last year period.

Capital adequacy ratio (CAR) under Basel III of the bank was at 10.91% as on Jun. 30, 2014.

Shares of the bank gained Rs 3.15, or 1.13%, to trade at Rs 280.75. The total volume of shares traded was 180,888 at the BSE (12.42 p.m., Monday).
