Indian equities are trading lower in early trade on Friday. Realty and capital goods stocks declined. At 9.16 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 163.86 points or 0.63% at 25,731.11 with 24 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 64.90 points or 0.84% at 7,656.40 with 45 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a decline of 141.05 points or 0.54% at 25,753.92.
Major losers were M&M (1.99%), GAIL (1.91%), HDFC (1.68%) and NTPC (1.66%).
Top gainers were Infosys (0.65%), Maruti Suzuki (0.42%), Cipla (0.41%), and Wipro (0.40%).
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts declining-0.45% and -0.20% respectively.
The Realty index was at 1,861.97, down by 31.06 points or by 1.64%. The Capital Goods index was at 14,510.58, down by 141.05 points or by 0.96%.
On the other hand, the Consumer Durables index was at 8,556.95, up by 0.08 points.
