European stock markets closed lower on Thursday. Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 declined 53.72 points or 1.72 percent to settle at 3,115.51.

While UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 declined 43.33 points or 0.64 percent to close at 6,730.11.

Germany's benchmark index DAX lost 186.20 points or 1.94 percent to end at 9,407.48.

Meanwhile, French benchmark index CAC 40 fell 66.16 points or 1.53 percent to end at 4,246.14.
