Indian equities remained on flat note in noon trade on Thursday. Oil & gas and metal stocks witnessed a gain whereas IT stocks registered a fall.
At 12.18 p.m., the Sensex was trading down 9.65 points or 0.04% at 26,077.77 with 18 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 3.80 points or 0.05% at 7,787.60 with 28 components falling.
Top gainers were Cipla (2.57%), Tata Steel (2.50%), Gail India (1.10%), and RIL (1.04%).
Major losers were Wipro (1.13%), M&M (1.07%), ITC (0.88%) and Sun Pharma (0.80%).
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.61% and 0.58% respectively.
The Oil & Gas index was at 10,852.85, up by 103.27 points or by 0.96%. The Metal index was at 13,182.45, up by 124.28 points or by 0.95%.
On the other hand, the IT index was at 9,748.13, down by 53.4 points or by 0.54%.
