Dr Reddy's Laboratories, an integrated global pharmaceutical company, reported a rise of 52.77% in its net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2014.
The company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs. 5.50 billion as compared to Rs. 3.60 billion for the corresponding quarter last year.
The growth was driven by a 32%growth in revenue from the global generics business and a 51% growth in revenues from North America, among others.
Total Income has increased by 22.69% to Rs. 35.36 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2014 from Rs. 28.82 billion in the same period a year ago.
Shares of the company gained Rs 65.3, or 2.36%, to trade at Rs 2,832. The total volume of shares traded was 45,836 at the BSE (3.21 p.m., Wednesday).
The 30 share index, Sensex climbed 485.19 points, or 1.89%, to 26,126.75 in the week ended Jul. 25, 2014. On the other hand, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed 126.55 points, or 1.65%, to 7,790.45 in the same period.
Mid-cap stocks declined 74.59 points, or 0.81%, to 9,178.21 in the week. While small-cap shares lost 143.67 points, or 1.41%, to 10,037.17 during the week.
Major gainers over the week in the sectoral indices were IT gained 4.14%, TECk 3.66%, FMCG rose 3.57%, HC climbed 2.57%, and Oil & Gas went up 0.68%.
Power dropped 3.36%, Realty fell 2.84%, Capital Goods lost 2.23%, PSU declined 1.60%, and Auto went down 0.66% among major losers in the sectoral indices over the week.
