Indian equities turned positive in post noon trade on Wednesday. Banking, consumer durables and healthcare stocks witnessed a gain whereas capital goods stocks registered a fall.
At 2.41 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 37.34 points or 0.14% at 26,028.57 with 17 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 14.40 points or 0.19% at 7,763.10 with 32 components gaining.
Top gainers were Bharti Airtel (4.98%), ICICI Bank (3%), Hindalco (2.56%), and Hero Motocorp (2.40%).
Major losers were L&T (7.10%), Tata Power (1.53%), SSTL (1.31%), and SBI (1.01%).
The BSE Smallcap index was at 9951.37 down by 15.27 points or by 0.15%.
The Bankex index was at 17,651.53, up by 230.14 points or by 1.32%. The Consumer Durables index was at 8,620.65, up by 104.54 points or by 1.23%. The HC index was at 12,301.17, up by 145.42 points or by 1.20%.
On the other hand, the Capital Goods index was at 14,779.78, down by 721.75 points or by 4.66%.
