Indian equities continued to trade lower on Wednesday led by sharp losses seen in capital goods, metal and power stocks whereas consumer durable stocks registered a gain.
At 1.21 p.m., the Sensex was trading down 107.34 points or 0.41% at 25,883.89 with 14 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 33.45 points or 0.43% at 7,715.25 with 28 components falling.
Major losers were L&T (7.65%), SSTL (2.36%), Tata Power (2.27%), and Tata Motors (2%).
Top gainers were Bharti Airtel (4.46%), Gail India (1.81%), Dr Reddy's Laboratories (1.78%), and ICICI Bank (1.31%).
The BSE Midcap index was at 9,102.61 down by 36.61 points or by 0.4%.
The Capital Goods index was at 14,698.26, down by 803.27 points or by 5.18%. The Metal index was at 12,881.53, down by 119.32 points or by 0.92%. The Power index was at 2,136.34, down by 12.94 points or by 0.6%.
On the other hand, the Consumer Durables index was at 8,589.99, up by 73.88 points or by 0.87%.
